1. Agreement to terms

By accessing our website, registering on our Learner Portal, applying for our programs, downloading data from our repository, or using any services provided by the AI for Uganda Initiative ("we," "our," "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any portion of these Terms, you must immediately cease accessing our portal and services.

2. Eligibility and age requirements

To register for our cohorts, utilize the Learner Portal, or participate in our training courses, you must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. By using our services, you warrant and represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under the age of eighteen (18) but at least sixteen (16) years old, you represent that you have obtained the explicit consent of a parent or legal guardian to agree to these Terms.

3. Academic honor code and code of conduct

As a student or registry member of our initiative, you are held to a premium standard of integrity and collaboration. By enrolling, you commit to our Academic Honor Code:

Violating the Honor Code or Code of Conduct will result in immediate disciplinary review, which may lead to expulsion from the program, revocation of certificates, and termination of portal access without a refund.

4. Public data repository and open licensing

Our initiative builds and hosts a localized public data repository to support AI research and open science in Uganda. Downloading and utilizing these datasets are governed by the following rules:

Students and partners frequently develop predictive models during our programs (e.g., automated agricultural crop disease detection, healthcare diagnostic support, climate prediction, financial risk modeling). It is a critical condition of our services that:

Our services and materials are provided without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that our digital portal, cloud GPU workspaces, or servers will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from viruses or other harmful components.

8. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms of Service and any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the Republic of Uganda.

Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of our services shall first be submitted to informal, amicable mediation between the parties. If mediation fails to resolve the dispute within thirty (30) days, the matter shall be referred to and finally resolved by the competent courts of law in Kampala, Uganda, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

9. Modifications to terms

We reserve the right to revise or update these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of our services after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
