What is the main goal of the AI for Uganda Initiative?
Our primary goal is to build a robust ecosystem for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in Uganda. We achieve this by developing a national localized data repository, nurturing skilled local talent through premium training programs, and fostering AI-powered innovations designed to solve real-world industry and public-sector challenges.
Who can benefit from this initiative?

Are classes online or in person?
We utilize a premium, structured hybrid learning methodology. Live core lectures and code walkthroughs are delivered online via our virtual classroom, and are recorded for flexible asynchronous review. However, to foster collaboration, we host mandatory bi-weekly in-person lab sessions at our physical hub in Kampala, Uganda. During these physical labs, students receive direct, shoulder-to-shoulder debugging support, participate in capstone hackathons, and network with local industry partners.
Do I need a high-end laptop or computer?
No, you do not need an expensive or high-end laptop to succeed in our courses. Our minimum recommended laptop specifications are a standard Dual-Core processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. Because training advanced neural networks and deep learning models requires substantial computational power, we provide all registered students with complimentary access to our cloud-hosted GPU clusters (including enterprise notebooks and private sandboxes) for all course assignments and capstones. All intensive computing runs in the cloud; you only need a modern web browser and a stable internet connection.
Are there flexible payment options or installment plans?
Yes, we are committed to making top-tier AI education accessible. For all individual applicants, we offer structured installment plans to distribute the tuition fees:
  • Foundational AI and Data Science (UGX 600,000): 40% initial deposit (UGX 240,000) due upon admission approval, followed by two monthly installments of 30% (UGX 180,000 each) due at the start of Week 4 and Week 8.
  • Advanced Machine Learning (UGX 1,200,000): 40% initial deposit (UGX 480,000) due upon admission approval, followed by two monthly installments of 30% (UGX 360,000 each) due at the start of Week 4 and Week 8.
  • AI for Industry Applications (UGX 2,400,000): 30% initial deposit (UGX 720,000) due upon admission, followed by three bi-monthly installments of 23.3% (UGX 560,000 each) due at the start of Month 2, Month 4, and Month 5.
How does the national data bank fit into the training?
The National AI Data Bank is the foundational resource of our ecosystem. During the advanced modules and capstone projects of our programs, students gain direct access to localized, fully anonymized Ugandan datasets spanning key sectors (such as agricultural soil records, pediatric clinical metadata, regional trade flows, and public utility distributions). This ensures that your training is not just academic; you will build, train, and test your models on real, high-impact domestic datasets to solve tangible local problems.
What kind of training certifications do you offer?
Upon successfully completing a program, satisfying our academic honor code, and defending your capstone project before our graduation panel, you will be awarded an official Certificate of Competency in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science issued by the AI for Uganda Initiative. Our certificates are digital-badged, cryptographically verifiable, and recognized by our growing network of corporate hiring partners.
How do I enroll in a training program?
To apply for an upcoming cohort, please visit our enrollment page. The multi-step application form will capture your contact details, education, programming experience, and personal statement. Our admissions panel reviews submissions on a rolling basis, and approved applicants are notified via email with onboarding details within ten (10) business days.
